Öğe Akhism values and Global Compact Principles: An Analysis on Points of Overlap and Discrimination(2021) Tutar, HasanValues are the criteria that guide people's attitudes and behaviors. People need values as a criterion for their attitudes and behaviors in their business and private lives. People are social beings, and value is produced due to relations with people and even with nature. Attitudes and behaviors about what is going on around him and how he evaluates them give people work and life values. When a person reacts to the events around him, he evaluates them and assigns a value to them. Value is the primary standard and criteria that affect social and individual life and enable to make judgments such as sound, bad, right, wrong, right, and wrong. At this point, value functions as a criterion in determining the distinction between \"what is and ought to be.\" Value functions as meaning systems that people give to any event or phenomenon. While values are sometimes expressed as beliefs about people's behavior according to their preferences, sometimes they can be seen as \"preference criteria\" or \"living standards.\" The primary purpose of this research is to determine the points of overlap and divergence by comparing the Ahi-order values that emerged under the futuwwa and the Global Compact presented as a set of global values today. Since the research is based on comparing two different value systems, the content analysis technique, a qualitative method, will be used. For this purpose, the content analysis of the texts reflecting the fundamental values of the two value systems will be made, and the starting point of the global compact values system will be analyzed comparatively.Öğe An analysis of PhD students' views on the competencies of their supervisors(Deomed Publ, Istanbul, 2021) Tutar, Hasan; Altınöz, Mehmet; Güler, SevilayThis study aims to examine the opinions of PhD students who are in their dissertation-writing stage, on their supervisors' core competency, technical competency and managerial competency. Many of these concepts have no equivalent in the factual world, nor do we have any equivalent in our world of mind and in our universe imagination. Scientific studies that are thought to be produced with these concepts, which are empty and only meaningless rhetoric, do not actually contribute to scientific processes and cause waste of labor, time and mind. The main purpose of this study is to draw attention to such concepts and studies which consist of an empty intellectual effort and fad. In this study, it is aimed to analyze gentleman figure in Kutadgu Bilig compared to authentic leadership from modern leadership approaches. Another aim of the research is to reveal the importance of thinking based on our own culture roots in scientific processes and the mental difference between the two insights by making a comparison between the meaning content of the "gentleman" concept originating from our own cultural roots and the leader concept produced by Western ideas. In the study, the question “what is the potential of an authentic leadership approach to explain the figure of gentleman in Kutadgu Bilig” has been tried to be answered. Document analysis and descriptive analysis techniques have been used in the study. In order to answer the research questions and to select the conditions that meet certain criteria, the criterion sampling strategy was used. The sample of this research is lines of expressions of the gentleman in Kutadgu Bilig and the name gentleman. Directly drawn from these lines, the gentleman figure has been analyzed in terms of components of authentic leadership. In Kutadgu Bilig, while performing a comparative analysis of the figure of the bey in terms of authentic leadership approach, particular attention was paid not to justify the ways of thinking of the West stemming from its original conditions with any concept from our own culture. In this study, instead of finding a response from us to any concept in the West by avoiding such an approach, the conceptual framework in ours meets the concepts which are considered as contemporary; therefore, it is assumed that thinking with the concepts reflecting the cultural and mental functioning of our society will be a more correct approach. According to the findings of the research, the qualities of the gentleman (being noble, intelligent, knowledgeable, fair, accurate, courageous, patient, forgiving, honest, cautious, cautious, vigilant, generous, political owner, good-natured and godliness) largely coincide with the components of the authentic leadership. This situation has shown that the figure of the gentleman is equipped with more qualifications than those expressed in the leadership approaches. © 2020, Milli Folklor Dergisi. The Development of Managerial Competencies: A Case Study(2023) Nam, Selçuk; Tutar, HasanThe main purpose of this study is to determine the critical success factors that affect the success of e-learning in executive development. Design/methodology/approach The research design of the study is prediction design, one of the quantitative research designs. The participants included 408 people working in a public university in Turkey as an academic or administrative staff. Five-factor personality traits and workplace spirituality scales were used to collect data. Findings Extraversion and conscientiousness have a positive effect on workplace spirituality. Openness, agreeableness and neuroticism have no significant effect on workplace spirituality. Research limitations/implications This study is limited to the relationship between "five-factor personality traits" and "workplace spirituality". As the participants of the study were chosen among those who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, the generalizability of the results is limited. The results are limited to explaining the questions such as "what", "how much" and "who". Practical implications The conclusions of the study are important in terms of showing the managers that everyone cannot be motivated and satisfied by the same motivators and therefore her or his perception of workplace spirituality will not be the same. Managers can improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness by raising employees' workplace spirituality. It shows that employees attach importance to workplace spirituality, especially since Turkish culture has a conservative structure. In this way, motivation and job satisfaction of employees will increase and negative behaviors in the organization will decrease. Originality/value It can be argued that this study makes a significant theoretical contribution to research on the effect of workplace spirituality on the employee.
