Özet
Reye syndrome (RS) is a mitochondrial
hepatopathy, characterized by acute encephalopathy and fatty degeneration of the
liver. The incidence ranges between 0.35
and 3.5 in 100,000 (1–3). The reasons for
the mitochondrial dsyfunction are unknown. No toxic factor has yet been conclusively identified, but studies have suggest etiologic links among RS, use of aspirin, and
viral infections (1). Here, we report a case of
RS after varicella and ingestion of aspirin to
emphasize the importance of avoiding the
use of aspirin in varicella.
