Özet

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of two different static stretching durations on hamstring muscle flexibility. Material and methods: Forty university students (15 female and 25 male) participated voluntarily in the study. Subjects were randomly assigned to two groups. Group I (30 seconds] and Group II (60 seconds) did static stretch training for the hamstring muscles for 6 weeks (5 days a week, at the frequency of 10 repetitions in a training period). Before and after the training period hamstring flexibility was measured by a goniometer. Results: The result of this study showed that 30 seconds and 60 seconds of static stretching exercise improved hamstring flexibility. The 30 second and 60 second treatment groups did not differ from one another in improving hamstring flexibility (p>0.05). Conclusion: As a result, 30 seconds of static stretching time can be preferred to improve hamstring flexibility.
