Özet
Objective: Many cancer survivors have cognitive problems with concentration and memory after cancer treatment. The Attention Function Index (AFI) is a tool developed to evaluate cognitive processes in cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adaptation of AFI in Turkish. Methods: This methodological study was conducted with one hundred breast cancer survivors. Data were collected using the information form, AFI, and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life (EORTC QLQ-C30) scale. Internal consistency, test-retest, and item-total scores were analyzed to assess the reliability of the AFI Turkish form. Results: The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.89 for the Turkish version of AFI. Confirmatory factor analysis for construct validity revealed that the original three-factor structure of AFI was not confirmed, but the two-factor structure of the AFI was confirmed by the fit indices. In the correlation analysis for criterion validity, a statistically significant and positive relationship was found between AFI total scores and EORTC QLQ-C30 total scores. There was a strong positive correlation between test and retest scores (r = 0.524; p<0.01). Conclusions: In this study, it was determined that the two-factor, 10-item version of the AFI, which was evaluated for validity and reliability, was well-matched with the sample in which the scale was administered. The Turkish version of AFI is a valid and reliable tool for breast cancer survivors. The scale tested in cancer survivors and can be used in clinical practice.
