Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin okuma alışkanlığı durumlarını velilerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda belirlemeye çalışmaktır. Tarama modelindeki bu araştırmada araştırma grubu, Bolu merkez ve ilçelerinden seçilen 14 ilköğretim okulunda görev yapan 2.,3.,4. ve 5.sınıf öğrencilerinin velilerinden oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmada 108 veliden veri toplanmıştır. Araştırmada verilerin toplanması için araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan "Okuma Alışkanlığı Veli Anketi" kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada anket yoluyla toplanan verilerin analizinde yüzde ve frekans kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara dayalı olarak şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır: Velilerin tamamına yakınının okumayı sevmesine karşın yarısından fazlasının okuma alışkanlığı olduğu, yarısına yakınının ise olmadığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Velilerin %64,8'i çocuklarının okuma alışkanlığının olduğu, %35,2'si ise olmadığını belirtmiştir. Velilerin %74,1'i çocuğuna okuma alışkanlığı kazandırmak için öğretmeni ile işbirliği yapmaktadır. Velilerin sadece 1/3'ünden fazlası (%38,0) okuma konusunda çocuğuna model olabilecek davranışlar sergilediğini belirtirken önemli bir bölümü (%74,1) okumanın öneminden bahsettiğini ve yarısından fazlasının (%56,5) çocuğuna okuması için devamlı uyarılar yaptığını belirttikleri saptanmıştır.
The purpose of this study is determining the reading habits of the elementary school students according to the parent’s viewpoints; and also determining the practices and viewpoints of the parents in giving reading habits to their children. This study was conducted in the descriptive model. The study group was formed from the parents of the students who studied at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades in 14 elementary schools selected from Bolu and its counties. The data were collected from 108 parents in the study. The “Reading Habit Parents Questionnaire”, which was prepared by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. The percentage and frequency values were used in the analyses of the data collected in the study. When the findings obtained in the study were examined it was observed that although almost all of the parents loved reading, more than half of them had reading habits, but the remaining part did not have reading habits. 64,8% of the parents stated that their children had reading habits, 35,2% stated that they did not have reading habits. 74,1% of the parents cooperate with the teachers to make their children acquire reading habits. When the viewpoints of the parents to make their children acquire reading habits were examined it was observed that 38,0% of them had model behaviors that might be the example for their children on reading, and the majority of them (74,1%) stated that they talked about the importance if reading at home, and more than half of them (56,5%) stated that they warned their children constantly to read.
