Özet

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of gross motor functional level on mobility and functional independence in young adults and adults with cerebral palsy (CP). Materials and methods: Forty five adults and young adults with average age of 22.56 +/- 7.92 years (21.88 +/- 6.87 years for women, 23.4 +/- 9.18 years for men) were included in the study. Following obtaining the data concerning demographic and clinical characteristics (is. Extremity and clinical involvement), Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), Functional Independence Measurement (FIN) and Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI) were conducted to analyse gross motor functional level, functional independence and level of mobility, respectively, Results: There found to be a strong reverse correlation was found between GMFCS level and EIM and RMI total scores (r=-0.803 and r=-0.586, p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: A strong relation between gross motor functional level and level of mobility and level of functional independence. Highlighting this fact we think that it is important to increase activity involvement and level of social activity by paying more attention to the approaches that would provide necessary ambulation both in and out of the community.
