Özet
Leech endoparasitism, although rare, may cause serious, even lethal complications. This paper presents a case with a five days history of haematemesis, melena, pallor and difficulty in swallowing. The cause was found to be a leech in the oesophagus detected by means of endoscopic examination. This was removed by forceps and the patient's health improved.
