Öğe Analysis of Antioxidant Effects of Lycopene and Caffeine in Experimentally Induced Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats(2021) Saylan, Aslihan; Firat, Tülin; Yis, Özgür Mehmet; Dede, Gizem; Carver, HandeBackground: The aim was to investigate the antioxidant effects of lycopene and caffeine in rats exposed to renal ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury. Materials and Methods: Following right renal nephrectomy, 60 minutes of ischemia followed by 60 minutes of reperfusion were performed in 200-250 gram Wistar albino rats used in the study. 30 minutes before ischemia, lycopene (5 mg/kg), caffeine (50 mg/kg), lycopene (5 mg/kg) + caffeine (50 mg/kg) were adminis- tered intraperitoneally to the rats. After the experiment, 4 ml of blood and left kidney were taken from the rats. Tissue malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and se- rum creatinine activities were measured biochemically and light microscopy findings were evaluated histo- logically. Results: When MDA levels are compared; Although the MDA level of the IR+Lycopene group was lower than the IR group, no significance was observed. When IR+Lycopene and IR+Caffeine groups are compared; The MDA level of the IR+Lycopene group is higher than the IR+ Caffeine group. In the IR+Caffeine group; A sta- tistically significant increase was observed in serum creatinine compared to the IR+Lycopene+Caffeine group. Although SOD and GSH-Px were higher in the antioxidant groups compared to the IR group, no sta- tistically significant difference was observed. When compared with ischemia-reperfusion group, histopatho- logical damage was found to be significantly lower than in the other groups. It was found that Lycopene and Caffeine reduced apoptosis, tubular dilatation, tubular epithelium degeneration, glomerular shrinkage, des- quame epithelium and proteinous cast amount significantly. Conclusions: While lycopene has high antioxidant efficiency when compared with caffeine, lycopene and caffeine have protective effect against renal ischemia reperfusion injury.Öğe COVID-19 Pandemisi: Uzaktan Eğitimin Sağlık Alanında Eğitim Gören Öğrenciler Üzerindeki Etkileri(2023) Saylan, Aslihan; Deniz, Omur Gulsum; Diramali, MuratAmac?: Tu?m du?nyayı etkisi altına alan koronaviru?s salgını sebebiyle aniden gec?ilen uzaktan eg?itim sisteminin sağlık alanında eğitim alan öğrenciler tarafından değerlendirilmesi amac?lanmıs?tır. Sonuç: O?g?rencilerin uzaktan eg?itime bakışları olumlu olmakla birlikte, memnuniyetlerini etkileyen fakto?rler deg?is?mektedir. Her ne kadar pandemi koşullarında uzaktan eğitim iyi bir bir altenatif olarak düşünülse de uygulamalı dersler ac?ısından o?g?renciler yu?z yu?ze eg?itimi tercih etmektedirler.Öğe Histopathological effects on kidney of diclofenac potassium and diazepam used in an experimental epilepsy model(2023) Saylan, Aslihan; Turel, Canan Akünal; Türel, Idris; Çetinkaya, Ayhan; Torun, Ibrahim Ethem; Çelik, HumeyraAim: To investigate the effects of diazepam, which has anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects, and diclofenac potassium, which has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects, on rat kidney tissue, used in an experimental epilepsy model. Methods: 32 Wistar albino rats (2-4 months old, 200-250 gr) were used in the study. The rats were grouped in four as 8 rats in each group: Epilepsy, Epilepsy + Diazepam, Epilepsy + Diclofenac potassium, Epilepsy + Diazepam + Diclofenac potassium. Epileptic seizure model was created with penicillin (500.000 IU) injected intracortically under urethane anesthesia. 30 minutes later, diazepam (0.1 mg/kg) and diclofenac potassium (10 mg/kg) were administered intraperitoneally. At the end of the study, rat kidneys were removed and evaluated histopathologically in terms of inflammation, glomerular shrinkage, tubular dilatation, tubular epithelial thinning, desquame epithelium, brush epithelial loss, vacuolization, hemorrhage and congestion. Results: No difference was found between diazepam and diclofenac potassium in terms of vacuolization, glomerular shrinkage, tubular dilatation and hemorrhage. Inflammation, congestion and tubular epithelial thinning rate were found to be lower inEpilepsy + Diclofenac potassium and Epilepsy + Diazepam + Diclofenac potassium group when compared with Epilepsy + Diazepam group. While brush epithelial loss and desquame epithelial rate was found to be lowest in the epilepsy group, these parameters were not found to show a significant difference between drug groups. Conclusion: It was concluded that combined use of diazepam and diclofenac potassium in their effects on kidney are more useful than their single use.
