dc.description.abstractTerakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası, Türk siyasal yasamının ilk muhalefet partisi olması dolayısıyla Türk demokrasi tarihinde önemli bir adımdır. Bu parti, Milli Mücadele'de mühim rolleri olan asker ve sivil liderlerin, inkılapların baslamasıyla daha belirginlesen görüs ayrılıkları nedeniyle muhalefet yapmak için kurdukları bir tesekküldür. Kurtulus Savası sonrası kurtarıcı olarak halk üzerinde büyük otorite sahibi olan Mustafa Kemal'e açıkça muhalefet edemeyen Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası, Halk Fırkası'na karsı söylemiyle, dolaylı olarak yine Mustafa Kemal'i hedef almıstır. Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası, siyasal iktidarı ele geçirmek için çalısmalarda bulunmus, içinde barındırdıgı bazı milletvekilleri ve destegini aldıgı bazı kesimlerin çalısmaları ile; devlet düzenine ve rejime tehlike arz etmeye baslayınca zararlı bulunarak kapatılmıstır. vi Seyh Sait syanı, bu parti ile partinin fikirlerini destekleyen basının ortaya çıkardıgı muhalefet ve olumsuz propagandaların bir sonucu olarak görülmüstür. Ülkenin içinde bulundugu sartları degerlendiren Atatürk ve arkadasları devrimler ile demokrasi arasında bir tercih yapmak durumunda kalmıs ve devrimleri tercih etmislerdir. Kısaca söylemek gerekirse, ülkenin ulusal-laik bir yapıya ulasması için ugras verilirken, bu sartlarda olusan muhalefetin olumsuz etkileri görülmüs, devrimlerin basarısı için tek parti yönetimine devam edilmesi uygun bulunmustur. Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası, Türk siyasal hayatının daha sonraki gelismelerine bir örnek olusturması nedeniyle, Türk demokrasi tarihinde önemli bir yer edinmistir.en_US
dc.description.abstractFor its being the first opposition party of the Turkish Political Background, Progressivist Republican Party is an important step in the History of Turkish Democracy. The party was an organization which was formed for the purpose of opposing by military and civilian leaders who played significant roles during National Struggle period and whose views apperantly got more and more varied once the revolutions started. Progressivist Republican Party, which was unable to show its opposition clearly to Mustafa Kemal who had a great authority on public as a liberator after the Independence War, directed its opposition directly to People?s Party, which also meant opposing Mustafa Kemal indirectly. Progressivist Republican Party strived for exercising the political power within the State. When-due to the acts of some of its parliament members and to the actions of some of its supporters- it was thought to be harmful both for the State and the regime, the Party was closed. The Sheikh Sait Riot was thought to have stemmed from the opposition and the negative propaganda of Progressivist Republican Party and of the Press which supported the views of the Party. After assessing the conditions within the country, iv Atatürk and his friends came to a point where they had to to make a choice between democracy and the revolutions; and they stood up for the revolutions. In other words, while striving to help the country have a national-secular structure, the negative effects of an opposition of this nature were found out; and ,accordingly, it was thought reasonable to continue with a single-party administration for the success of the revolutions. Owing to its being an example for the forthcoming developments in Turkish Political Life, Progressivist Republican Party is of an important place in the History of Turkish Democracy.en_US
