Pantoae agglomerans is a Gram-negative bacterium and member of the Enterobacteriaceae. It is found widespread in nature and an agent of opportunistic infections. A 23-year-old female was admitted to the intensive care unit with acute intermittent porphyria attack. During her hospitalization' P. agglomerans bacteremia developed. Since the isolated bacterium was found susceptible to ampicillin/sulbactam and since this drug cambination was cansidered as safe as not to trigger porphyria attacks, the patient was successfully treated with IV ampicillin/sulbactam.
