dc.description.abstractKâzım Karabekir, one of the prominent figures of the Turkish Independence War, had taken an opponent position against the government in the first years of the Turkish Republic and then he was eliminated from political life. After Atatürk's death, Kâzım Karabekir, who was able to return to political life within the framework of the peace policy initiated by İsmet İnönü with some former opponents, gave an interview to the Tan, which was daily newspaper, shortly after he became a deputy. The first part of this interview was published on April 3, 1939. However, due to some criticisms about the Atatürk period in the interview, some university students protested, and the interview was stopped to be published. Despite this, the issue grew rapidly, and Karabekir's statement was subjected to severe criticism both in the press and in the CHP (RPP) Party Group. In the study, besides the content of the interview and what happened to him after its publication, what kind of reactions he received in the press, discussions in the Party group, and its reflections on various memories were examined.
