Öğe AA 6082 alüminyum alaşımının yorulma davranışı üzerine temper durumunun etkisi(Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi, 2015) Doruk, Emre; Pakdil, MuratBu tez çalışmasında, alüminyum 6xxx serisinde yer alan AA 6082 sac malzemenin yaşlandırma ısıl işlemi yapılmış ve çözeltiye alma tavı yapılmış halde yorulma testine tabi tutulması ve sonuçların karşılaştırılması ele alınmıştır. Bu sayede, alaşıma uygulanan farklı ısıl işlem şartlarının yorulma özellikleri üzerindeki etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yaşlandırma sertleştirilmesi yapılmış numunelere uygulanan çözeltiye alma tavı işleminin mikro yapı üzerine etkileri SEM'de görüntülenmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, uygulanan çözeltiye alma tavının yorulma ömrüne etkisi yapılan testler sonucunda ortaya konulmuş ve temper durumunun yorulma ömrünü etkilediği kesin olarak görülmüştür.Öğe Effect of fatigue crack propagation on natural frequencies of system in AISI 4140 steel(Techno-Press, 2019) Bilge, Habibullah; Doruk, Emre; Fındık, Fehim; Pakdil, MuratIn this study, we investigated the effect of fatigue crack propagation of the beams which have a vital importance in engineering applications, on the natural frequency of the system. Beams which have a wide range of applications, are used as fundamental structural elements in engineering structures. Therefore, early detection of any damages in these structures is of vital importance for the prevention of possible destructive damages. One of the widely used methods of early detection of damages is the vibration analysis of the structure. Hence, it is of vital importance to detect and monitor any changes in the natural frequencies of the structure. From this standpoint, in this study we experimentally investigated the effect of fatigue crack propagation on beams produced from 4140 steel, of the natural frequency of the beam. A crack was opened on the 8x16x500 mm beam using a 3 mm long and 0.25 mm wide wire erosion. The beam, then, underwent 3 point bending tests at 10 Hz with a dynamic fatigue device and its natural frequencies were measured in scheduled intervals and any changes taking place on the natural frequencies of the beam were measured. This data allowed us to identify and measure the crack occurring on the beam subjected to dynamic loading, during the propagation phase. This method produced experimental data. The experimental data showed that the natural frequency of the beam decreased with the propagation of the fatigue crack on the beam.Öğe Effect of tempering conditions on the fatigue behavior of an AA 6082 aluminum alloy(Carl Hanser Verlag, 2016) Doruk, Emre; Pakdil, MuratIn this study, the fatigue tests were conducted on the AA6082 alloy sheets both in tempered (softened) and in T6 temper conditions, and the results obtained were examined. In this context, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of the tempering condition on the fatigue characteristics of the alloy. Microstructural evolutions in the tempered samples were examined using SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and interpreted. The investigations have revealed that the tempering condition significantly affects the fatigue life of the alloy.Öğe Experimental and numerical research on ballistic performance of carbon steels and cold worked tool steels with and without Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating(Techno-Press, 2017) Ergül, Erdi; Doruk, Emre; Pakdil, MuratIt is extremely important to be aware of the ballistic performances of engineering materials in order to be able to choose the lightest armor providing full ballistic protection in civil and military applications. Therefore, ballistic tests are an important part of armor design process. In this study, ballistic performance of plates made of carbon steel and cold worked tool steel against 7.62 mm AP (armor-piercing) bullets was examined experimentally and numerically in accordance with NIJ standards. Samples in different sizes were prepared to demonstrate the effect of target thickness on ballistic performance. Some of these samples were coated with titanium nitride using physical vapor deposition (PVD) method. After examining all successful and unsuccessful samples at macro and micro levels, factors affecting ballistic performance were determined. Explicit non-linear analyses were made using Ls-Dyna software in order to confirm physical ballistic test results. It was observed that the ballistic features of steel plates used in simulations comply with actual physical test results.Öğe Innovative Cold Storage Air Conditioning System Development For Vehicles(2020) Doruk, Emre; Ayartürk, Hasan; Ekbiç, Kemal; Pakdil, MuratThe conventional vapor compression air conditioning systems, which consist of air compressor fromthe e ngine s haft, c ondenser, e xpansion v alve a nd e vaporator a re u sed i n t he today’s automotiveindustry. These systems are quite prone to development and to improvement in terms of energyconsumption, cost competitiveness and weight reduction. The variable waste energy, which isgenerated during driving of the vehicles, can be stored and used inside the vehicle cabin interior inthe form of latent heat at a constant temperature. Thus an environmental lightweight and improvedair conditioning system can be developed instead of complex, heavy, expensive and energy consumingcurrent systems. In this study, the electrical energy obtained during the braking of the vehiclealternator, electricity produced by thermoelectric module from the exhaust heat and receivingvariable electrical energy from engine on the vehicle-induced vibration (piezoelectric generator), therough roads of the induced vibrations (electromagnetic generator); Peltier heat pump was used to aidthe vehicle interior cabin air-conditioning using liquid to solid phase change fluids. Thus, all wasteenergy can be stored at constant temperature so that it can be used the air conditioning system.Öğe Mechanical and fatigue behavior of resistance spot welded dual-phase and twinning-induced plasticity steel joints(Asce-Amer Soc Civil Engineers, 2022) Doruk, Emre; Fındık, Fehim; Pakdil, MuratThe new generation high-strength steel sheet has been widely used to reduce the vehicle weight. In this study, the mechanical, metallurgical, and fatigue behavior of the resistance spot-welded joints of high strength steel sheets were experimentally investigated. The Dual-Phase (DP) 800 and Twinning-Induced Plasticity (TWIP) 1000 steel sheets were joined together in three different nugget diameters. The welding current was parameterized to create three different nugget diameters. Hence, four groups of welded combining combinations were obtained. The tensile shear test was applied to the samples to study the effects of weld nugget diameter and different welded joint combination in terms of the joint strength. For long fatigue life tests, six test samples were prepared for each test series; in total, 24 tests have been conducted, in which S-N curves of the samples were extracted. Finally, the effect of different nugget diameters on the fatigue life of the welded joint combinations was investigated. (C) 2022 American Society of Civil Engineers.
