dc.description.abstractKârların istikrarlı hale getirilmesi uygulamalarının temel hedefi, ard arda gelen dönemlerde şirketlerin elde etmiş oldukları kâr rakamlarındaki iniş ve çıkışları (değişimleri) azaltmaktır. Kâr rakamlarındaki değişimler ne kadar az olursa, piyasanın ve hissedarların şirket hakkındaki algıları, şirketin riskinin düşük, değerinin yüksek olduğu yönünde değişebilecektir. Bu çalışmada, 2005-2013 dönem aralığında, hisse senetleri Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören şirketlerde, kârların istikrarlı hale getirilmesi uygulamalarını tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla şirketlerin yılsonu gelir tablolarından elde edilen net dönem kârları ve net satışları veri olarak, Eckel (1981)'in değişim katsayısı modeli ise yöntem olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; 2005-2013 dönem aralığında araştırmaya konu olan şirketlerde kârları istikrarlı hale getirme uygulamalarına, 2008 küresel ekonomik krizi yıllarında ve kriz sonrası yıllarda, kriz öncesine oranla daha fazla başvurulduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte bu uygulamalara, üretim sektöründe faaliyet gösteren şirketlerde, finans ve hizmetler sektöründe faaliyet gösteren şirketlere oranla daha fazla başvurulduğu ve uygulamaların şirketlerin hisse senedi getirileri ve riskleri üzerinde etkili olduğu sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.en_US

The less the changes in the profit figures, the market and the shareholders' perceptions about the company are likely to change in the direction that the company's risk is low and its value is high. In this study, it was aimed to find out whether the companies of which stocks traded in İstanbul Stock Exchange used income smoothing applications in the 2005-2013 period. For this purpose, the data is formed of sharp profit and sales obtained from year-end income statements of the companies in this period and coefficient of variation model by Eckel (1981) was applied as the method. It was concluded that the companies taking place in this research used income smoothing applications from time to time and that these applications were used more in the crisis and post-crisis periods than in the pre-crisis period. It was also documented that the companies operating in the manufacturing sector used income smoothing applications more than the companies operating in the finance and services sector and that these applications are influential on the companies' stock returns and risks.en_US
