Özet
The aim of this study was to find out the opinions of preservice teachers about reaching to the goals of Turkish National Education System. This study was done with a total of 230 candidate teachers enrolled to teacher’s formation education program and last-semester’s undergraduate students in the class of the Turkish Education System and School Management Courses of the Faculty of Education. The data of the present study were collected by the “Analysis of goals of Turkish National Education System Questionnaire” developed by the researcher. At the end of the study, it is concluded that the candidate teachers have opinions in “average and above average” levels about the Turkish National Education System’s goals related to Atatürk’s Principles and Revolution, national and ethics values, responsibilities for Republic of Turkey as a citizenship. Besides, the candidate teachers have described to reach to the levels of “average” about the goals related to Atatürk’s nationalism, cultural values, having positive relationship and personality, preparing for life by developing their interests. The Turkish National Education System should be improved in order to reach the goals of Turkish National Education, to solve problems with scientific methods, and to adapt into new situations. Along with many different factors related to reaching to the goals of Turkish National Education System, educating qualified teachers is the most important factor. The candidate teacher’s sufficiency should be improved about achieving the goals of Turkish National Education System. © The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology.
