Fusidik asitin enterokoklar ve Streptococcus pyogenes suşlarına etkinliğinin araştırılması

Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmada enterokok ve A grubu beta hemolitik streptokok (Streptococcus pyogenes) izolatlarının fusidik asit ve bazı antibakteriyel ajanlara karşı duyarlılıklarının Kirby Bauer disk diffüzyon yöntemiyle değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Metod: Çalışmada, Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Düzce ve İzzet Baysal Tıp Fakültelerinin mikrobiyoloji laboratuvarlarında, 2003-2005 yılları arasında çeşitli klinik örneklerden klasik yöntemlerle izole edilen 85 Enterococcus faecalis, 7 Enterococcus faecium ve 25 Streptococcus pyogenes izolatinin fusidik asit ve antibiyotik duyarlılıkları Kirby Bauer disk diffüzyon yöntemi kullanılarak araştırıldı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan enterokok suşlarından altısı (% 7) fusidik asite duyarlı, 38'i (%41) orta derecede duyarlı, 48' i (%52) dirençli bulundu. Streptococcus pyogenes suşlarının altısının (%64) fusidik asite duyarlı olduğu, yedisinin (%28) orta derecede duyarlı ve ikisinin (%8) de fusidik asite dirençli olduğu saptandı. Sonuç: Enterokok suşlarının fusidik asit direncinin yüksek olduğu, bu nedenle fusidik asitin enterokok infeksiyonlarında alternatif bir tedavi seçeneği olamayacağı, Streptococcus pyogenes infeksiyonlarında fusidik asitin etkinliğinin daha geniş seriler ile araştırılmasının uygun olacağı kanısındayız.
Aim: This study was aimed to evaluate the susceptibility of Enterococcus species arid Streptococcus pyogenes to fusidic acid and some other antimicrobial agents using Kirby Bayer disc diffusion method. Method: In this study, 85 Enterdcoccus faeCalis, 7 Enterococcus faecium ve 25 Streptococcus pyogenes isolates that were identified in microbiological laboratory of Duzce Medical Faculty and izzet Baysal Medical Faculty of Abant izzet Baysal University between. the years of 2003 and 2005, were studied. The susceptibility of isolates to fusidic acid and to some other antibiotics was investigated by using Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. Results: Six (7%) Enterococcus species that were assessed in this study were found to be susceptible to fusidic acid, 38 (41%) strains showed intermediate susceptibility. Forty eight (%52) enterococcus isolates were resistant[to fusidic acid. Of the Streptococcus pyogenes species, 6 isolates (%64) were susceptible to fusidic acid, 7 (%28) showed intermediate, susceptibility, and 2 (%8) isolates were resistant to fusidic acid. Conclusion: Our results indicate that fusidic acid may not be an alternative treatment modality in eriterococcdl infections since the susceptibility was found, to be low in these species. Further studies with larger series may be helpful to investigate the effectiveness of fuşidic aş an alternative therapy in Streptococcus pyogenes infections.
