Blood pressure, weight and height were measured and nutritional habits were studied by questionnaires in a sample of 785 (542 M, 243 F), aged 20 - 63, who were government employees. The relation ship between blood pres¬sure with age, sex, body weight, consumption of tea and coffee, and fat of animal origin were examined. The rates of hypertension were 12.2 % in male and 4.6 % in female subjects, who had only diastolic, only systolic and/or both over the normal limits. Both the levels of diastolic and systolic blood pressure according to body weight were statistically significant (p < 0.001) with the exception of systolic blood pressure in female subjects. There were no statistically significant relationship between blood pressures to consumption of tea and coffee, and fat of animal origin in both in male and female subjects (p < 0.05).
