Demystifying meal-sharing experiences through a combination of PLS-SEM and fsQCA
(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2023) Çifçi, İbrahim; Kahraman, Onur Cüneyt; Tiwari, Sunil; Rasoolimanesh, S. Mostafa
This research aims to demystify the links between meal-sharing experience, overall satisfaction, and behavioral intentions (e.g., re-purchase and word-of-mouth) based on social practice theory and planned behavior theory. It utilized a questionnaire to test the relationships through the purposeful sampling of 217 Indian domestic travelers. The current study applied both the symmetric method of partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and the asymmetric method of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). The PLS-SEM results showed that only the hospitality dimension of the meal-sharing experience positively relates to travelers' overall satisfaction, re-purchase, and word-of-mouth (WoM) intentions. Apart from this, the results of fsQCA demonstrated several sufficient combinations of dimensions to generate satisfaction, re-purchase, and WoM intentions. It has several practical implications for hosts of meal-sharing platforms as to how they can improve their guests' experience to delight and get them to re-purchase their services.

Fine dining with the package service: master chefs’ perspectives
(Routledge, 2024) Cavus, Osman; Tiwari, Sunil; Sthapit, Erose; Cifci, Ibrahim
This study explores the adequacy of package service in fine dining restaurants. Using a qualitative research approach, data were gathered using semi-structured interviews with 21 fine dining restaurant master chefs working in Istanbul, Türkiye. Based on grounded theory research design, this study identified six main themes linked to the suitability of package service in fine dining restaurants: challenges, specialization, value co-creation, anti-pollution, food-quality, and readiness. This study contributes to the existing literature on fine dining restaurants and package service by identifying six themes as core components of food package service in the context of fine dining. Some of the main managerial implications for converting fine dining restaurants into package service include catering to a limited set of package services initially to assess the feasibility, service quality, challenges, and customer satisfaction, including designing the package services following the customers’ requirements without compromising the core attributes and quality. © 2024 Taylor & Francis.

Residents’ entrepreneurship motives, attitude, and behavioral intention toward the meal-sharing economy
(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2023) Kahraman, Onur Cüneyt; Çifçi, İbrahim; Tiwari, Sunil
The present study explores the relationships between entrepreneurship motives, attitude, and behavioral intention of Indian residents toward the meal-sharing economy. The study implements a self-administered questionnaire to collect quantitative data. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) were binarily performed to test the aforementioned relationships. The PLS-SEM results show that the gratification of hosting, social interaction, and independence positively impact residents' attitudes toward sharing economy. Moreover, social interaction, source of cultural capital, and gratification of hosting also positively influence the intention to participate in the meal-sharing economy. Moreover, the fsQCA results demonstrate that several configurations of the dimensions of entrepreneurship motivations generate the attitude toward the meal-sharing economy and the intention to participate in the meal-sharing economy. Based on the results, several theoretical and practical implications were suggested.

Stove to startup: residents' entrepreneurial motives in meal-sharing economy
(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Tiwari, Sunil; Cifci, Ibrahim; Kahraman, Onur Cuneyt
This study measures the nexus between entrepreneurial motives and residents' support for the meal-sharing economy with the mediating role of the state of the local economy. The authors employ partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) on the sample of 226 Indian respondents collected through a self-administered questionnaire. Results showed that the state of the local economy, social influence, gratification of hosting, and source of cultural capital are positively affecting the meal-sharing economy. Furthermore, the state of the local economy is positively associated with social influence and independency motives, significantly mediating the nexus of the meal-sharing economy with social influence and independency. Empirical findings suggest several theoretical and practical implications for residents, governments, policymakers, and tourism planners.
