Öğe Evaluation of sexual life in patients with gynecologic cancer undergoing radiotherapy(Springer, 2020) Uysal, Neşe; Toprak, Filiz Ünal; Soylu, Yeter; Kaya, BektaşThis study examined the sexual quality of life and associated factors in patients with gynecological cancer undergoing radiotherapy. This prospective study was conducted in the Radiation Oncology Clinic of a Training and Research Hospital between August 2018 and April 2019. The study sample consisted of 40 female patients with gynecological cancer who received radiotherapy. Data were collected using a questionnaire form, the scale of sexual quality of life, and Edmonton symptom assessment scale. The forms were completed during radiotherapy and 3 months after the completion of radiotherapy. The most frequent symptoms during radiotherapy were reported as frequent urination (97.5%) and tiredness (78.1%). Nausea, lack of appetite, wellbeing, and skin problems significantly reduced after radiotherapy (p <= 0.001). The mean score of the scale of sexual quality of life did not differ significantly during and after radiotherapy. Diagnosis time and symptoms of depression affected sexuality during radiotherapy. Sexual quality of life was affected by concurrent chemoradiotherapy, tiredness and wellbeing symptoms after radiotherapy (p <= 0.05). The majority of patients reported an influence on sexual intercourse with their spouses; however, sexual problems were not an issue because of the support given by their spouses. Radiotherapy was found to affect the sexual quality of life in patients with gynecological cancer. We suggested that practices related to improving the sexual quality of life should be included in the functions of oncology nurses.Öğe Turkish adaptation of attention function index: A validity and reliability study(Marmara University, Institute of Health Sciences, 2021) Uysal, Neşe; Bağçivan, Gülcan; Toprak, Filiz Ünal; Soylu, Yeter; Kaya, BektaşObjective: Many cancer survivors have cognitive problems with concentration and memory after cancer treatment. The Attention Function Index (AFI) is a tool developed to evaluate cognitive processes in cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adaptation of AFI in Turkish. Methods: This methodological study was conducted with one hundred breast cancer survivors. Data were collected using the information form, AFI, and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life (EORTC QLQ-C30) scale. Internal consistency, test-retest, and item-total scores were analyzed to assess the reliability of the AFI Turkish form. Results: The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.89 for the Turkish version of AFI. Confirmatory factor analysis for construct validity revealed that the original three-factor structure of AFI was not confirmed, but the two-factor structure of the AFI was confirmed by the fit indices. In the correlation analysis for criterion validity, a statistically significant and positive relationship was found between AFI total scores and EORTC QLQ-C30 total scores. There was a strong positive correlation between test and retest scores (r = 0.524; p<0.01). Conclusions: In this study, it was determined that the two-factor, 10-item version of the AFI, which was evaluated for validity and reliability, was well-matched with the sample in which the scale was administered. The Turkish version of AFI is a valid and reliable tool for breast cancer survivors. The scale tested in cancer survivors and can be used in clinical practice.
