Öğe A methodology for selection problems with multiple, conflicting objectives and both qualitative and quantitative criteria(Elsevier Science Bv, 2003) Erol, İsmail; Ferrell, William G.This paper presents a methodology to assist decision-makers in selecting from a finite number of alternatives when there is more than one objective and both qualitative and quantitative factors must be considered. The methodology uses fuzzy QFD to convert qualitative information into quantitative parameters and then combines this data with other quantitative data to parameterize a multiobjective mathematical programming model. A slightly modified version of preemptive goal programming is used to resolve the model in such a way that the decision-maker is provided a number of near optimal solutions from which a final decision can be made. An example is presented to illustrate the methodology.Öğe A methodology to support decision making across the supply chain of an industrial distributor(Elsevier Science Bv, 2004) Erol, İsmail; Ferrell, William G.This paper presents an integrated methodology to support decision making across the supply chain of an industrial distributor. The methodology is based on a model that simultaneously resolves the two fundamental decisions facing a distributor: assigning suppliers to warehouses and warehouses to customers. In addition, two important aspects of the problem as found in practice are also addressed. First, distributors frequently must simultaneously satisfy several conflicting objectives like minimizing cost and maximizing customer satisfaction so the model is multiobjective. Second, attributes and requirements on the assignments are both qualitative and quantitative in format and the methodology permits this. Finally, an example is also provided to illustrate how the methodology can be used in practice.
